Irene Landini is a third-year doctoral researcher at the Department of Politics at Luiss University, in Rome. The main topic of her dissertation is the relation between migration and welfare States’ development in Western Europe, with particular focus on parties and politicians discourses and policy action regarding the management of natives-migrants’ competition for social benefits. Her research is based on a comparative multiple-case analysis of several Western European countries and on a qualitative content analysis of politicians’ parliamentary speeches regarding welfare and immigration. During the first and second year of her PhD, she attended several national and international conferences, both as presenter and discussant. She also spent one academic semester of her PhD abroad, as a visiting research at the University of Vienna (Department of Government). The working title of her thesis is “Relation between migration and welfare States’ development in Western Europe,”

She currently holds a Post-Doc at the School of International Studies at the University of Trento for the project “The World Health Organization and the Covid-19 emergency: function, limits and impact on the territory” 

She speaks fluently French (C1/C2 level) and English (c1 level).
