Adam Courtley, a Ph.D. Candidate in Politics at LUISS University, studies the evolving rhetorical strategies of UK political figures. Focusing on parliamentary discourse from 2015 to 2019, his research examines whether individualistic communication styles are emerging that challenge traditional theories of political ambition and career progression. Through qualitative analysis of speeches by ministers and junior ministers, the project investigates how media-driven, professionalized rhetoric shapes discourse, especially among those advancing in government. His work aims to identify contemporary trends in rhetorical performance and emotional expression linked to political career progression in the United Kingdom.
