Theory in Political Science II: IR, Political Economy & European Integration
This team-taught course provides participants with a grounding in the major approaches and theories that have been developed in the study of politics beyond the nation-states. The course starts with a series of sessions devoted to contemporary approaches to International Relations. This is followed by a part of the course devoted to the study of (International) Political Economy. In the second half of the course, the focus shifts to the analysis of regional cooperation and, in particular, European integration, with a series of sessions looking at contending approaches to the politics of the EU. The course concludes with a round table bringing together the contributing instructions in a discussion about the challenge of studying international politics and European integration in a time of turbulence and transformation.
