The academic community of DEF consists of senior and junior researchers with diverse backgrounds. The Head of the Department is Prof. Alberto Petrucci, whose main goal is to foster a stimulating academic environment that facilitates the flourishing of the Department’s dynamic and interdisciplinary research activity.

The Department is engaged in enhancing the quality of its research through the implementation of several ambitious initiatives, including the recruitment of junior academics on the international job market as well as the promotion of a balance in gender and age representation.
