The Job Market Officer<\/em><\/strong> supports \u2013 through a variety of training activities \u2013 PhD candidates along their educational path. Although, this training becomes particularly relevant from the second year onwards, it is important that PhD canidates understand that their PhD work besides producing original, rigorous, and relevant research must be in line with the job market. To this end, the Job Market Officer<\/em><\/strong> organises job market related events, courses and counselling to all students.<\/p>\n

The Job Market training activities organised revolves around two major areas:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. sessions on how to write a paper, to navigate the offer of academic conferences, develop the PhD thesis, and handle the PhD path. A crucial feature of this area focuses on scholars \u2013 e.g. former Luiss PhD candidates who were on job market few years ago, editors of top management journals, and the likes \u2013 who regularly visit Luiss and that can offer their insight on themes relevant to the job market.<\/li>\n
  2. one-to-one sessions. The Job Market Officer, together with the PhD Coordinator and the Tutor, regularly meet students to monitor the progress of each student towards the job market. Additionally, the Job Market Officer organises sessions to support curricula development, mock interviews, and mock job market presentations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Job Market Officer offers also ad hoc<\/em><\/strong> advice on an on-demand basis. The Job Market Officer does not act as a Placement Officer in that he \/ she does not<\/em><\/strong> convey job offers to students. Therefore students are expected to be entrepreneurial and find their own means to acquire information on post-doc calls and job openings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
